Executive Summery:
Haor area has faced a very early flash flood during early April '10 due to unpredicted heavy rain at upstream (India). This year, flash flood came-in too early in decades of history and the volume of water was huge that overflowed the dykes. Sylhet, Sunamgonj, Hobigonj, Kishorgonj and Moulavibazar districts are affected and among them Sunamgonj district is the worst one. Flash flood inundated the Boro crops of 200 haor that will create huge impact on food security and livelihood in the area. Therefore, Oxfam and its partners did an in-depth assessment. Data has been collected through field visit, discussion, interview, KII, FGD, Case study and finally a validation workshop. Target responded were affected community, officials, elected representative, NGOs and civil society.
